The Huber Jim Mills Model was a recreation of the only known gold RB-75.

Fully set up here at Tejon Street Music and plays great.

Original Huber tone ring and bridge. Has double cut Gibson-style headstock.

Overall good condition with no structural issues.

Some light wear on frets but still plenty of life.

Wear to gold plating on arm rest.

There's one panel on the stretcher band near the neck that appears to have been rubbed with a Scotch-Brite pad or fine steel wool.

Resonator, neck, and body have a number of dents and dings from normal use over the years, but nothing too severe.

Some light cracking on neck binding. The binding is still solid and stable with no separations or peeling.

Includes original US made TKL hard case. Case is structurally solid but has lots of scuffs and scrapes.

Here's some info we pulled from a vintage 2005 snapshot of Huber's website:

  • Replica of Jim Mills' one-of-a-kind gold RB-75
  • Mahogany neck and resonator
  • Standard Huber pot assembly
  • Unique engraving pattern
  • V-shaped speed neck
  • Heavy gold plating
  • Vintage finish

Jim's take on the banjo:

“I have owned more than 60 original pre war banjos over the past 20 years, including 6 original five string flatheads. Not only have I played them on stage and in the studio, I've studied every detail in their makeup.

The reason I selected Steve Huber over three other major banjo manufacturers to create the Jim Mills model, a faithful replica of my 1939 Gold RB-75, is because Steve knows how they are supposed to look, feel, and sound.

He has put in the time it takes to become an authority on these banjos. The lengths to which Steve Huber has gone to produce the absolute closest possible replica of pre war flathead banjos are obvious - to experienced collectors and serious pickers alike.”
